James’ experience and versatility as a DJ has taken him from the main room in Fabric, to illegal Metro parties in Budapest, to early morning afterhours in LA, playing alongside everyone from Michael Mayer, to Richie Hawtin, to Roman Flugel. He’s known for running the infamous DividedByDirt parties in Hebden Bridge, events that quickly achieved cult notoriety and, as well as being revered by the UK press (Jockey Slut, DJ Mag, Muzik and The Guardian all rated them amongst the best in the UK), boasted heavyweight fans such as Craig Richards, Paul Daley and Andrew Weatherall for whom the parties still stand as some of their favourite events (www.dividedbydirt.com).
After a few years self-imposed hiatus from the industry CONSTRUCT was set up. An agency and management company, record label, mix series and occasional party. Having complete creative control his touch can be found everywhere from the artwork to the programming and everything in-between, born of a passion for doing things simply and properly, free of any constraints, motivated solely by working closely, long-term with likeminded artists, labels and promoters.
In 2016 the CONSTRUCT roster merged with the FMLY Agency in Brighton (www.fmly.agency), leaving CONSTRUCT to remain focused on the label and mix series whilst the management arm was re-launched as Assemble Artists (www.assembleartists.com).
